Thank you so much for enrolling in the course Building Revenue For Small Business Through Sonic Strategy. I’m Jeanna Isham, owner and founder of Dreamr Productions and Sound In Marketing Learning. I create, consult, and educate on the power of sound in marketing.
I started as a singer/songwriter and realized pretty quickly that writing was more me than performing. Then I got into production music and film score. And although I still do both, I found that writing production music specifically isn’t that fulfilling. I do much better when I have a specific assignment given to me rather than “write music like Duck Dynasty” or write a bunch of Skrillex (cause that won’t go out of style).
All the music I would write would go into a huge pool and maybe get used, maybe not. I had no control over it and no connection to the company that might actually be requesting it.
Then in 2015 I came across a word I had maybe heard once or twice; sonic branding. It changed my life. I started to dig and find out more about this sound marketing thing and realized it was a widely underutilized tool with an extremely small pool of professionals that truly understood how to use it. No wonder more companies weren’t getting in on this thing!
So I started to research and learn as much as I could. The only problem was, very little was written on the web. What I discovered was that the people with the knowledge (because it was such a select group) were busy and not able to sit down and write about what they were doing.
So I started the Sound In Marketing podcast in 2019 and started interviewing them. I really had selfish motives. My main intention was to educate myself. However, it became clear pretty quickly that other people were interested in this knowledge too.
As the podcast continued, I started to write up articles and blogs about the content that my guests were sharing to help populate the world wide web. Then I started hosting a monthly discussion on Zoom where we talked about different sound in marketing topics.
In 2021, I launched the first Sound in Marketing Learning course, “Sound’s Power and Influence in Marketing” where I discussed the fundamentals of sound in marketing with definitions, history and backstory, examples, and a whole lot of statistics I’d researched.
For those that might not have time for a whole course, I also released it in an eBook version.
And so here we are today. Building Revenue For Small Business Through Sonic Strategy is here and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
